§ Mr. Shinwell
asked the Minister of Information whether, in view of the resignation of the joint Director-General of the British Broadcasting Corporation, he intends to effect any reorganisation of the 907W directorate; and whether hon. Members will have an opportunity of expressing their views on any new appointments?
§ Mr. Bracken
I am discussing with the Chairman and Governors of the British Broadcasting Corporation the situation brought about by the regretted resignation of Sir Cecil Graves from his post as Joint Director-General of the Corporation. But the appointment of any successor lies with the Chairman and Governors and I see nothing in the charter of the B.B.C. which requires or even encourages them to invite Members of the House to express their views on the staffing of the Corporation.
