§ Sir A. Baillie
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why old age pensioners who grow and sell a few vegetables are mulcted in respect of their supplementary pensions by a few shillings a week; and whether, in view of the need for increasing food and thrift, he will discontinue any such practice?727W
§ Mr. E. Brown
I have been asked to reply. The Assistance Board inform me that it is not their practice to make deductions from supplementary pensions on account of occasional sales of vegetables and similar produce. If my hon. and gallant Friend has any case in mind I shall be glad if he will send me particulars.
