§ Captain Plugge
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings whether he is satisfied that the roofing felts, the use of which is being extended, are relatively non-inflammable; and, if not, whether they are specially treated to render them relatively resisting to incendiary bombs?
§ Mr. Hicks
The nature of roofing felts unfortunately prevents them from being non-inflammable and there is no treatment that will make them really resistant to a flame in direct contact or to the heat generated by an incendiary bomb. Their improvement in this respect has been and is receiving attention; and roofing felt will not ordinarily support a flame by itself. If the hon. Member has any suggestions to make in this matter I will gladly consider them.
