§ Major Carver
asked the right hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, in view of the present shortage of softwoods, what policy he proposes to follow with regard to making good the deficiencies from home supplies?
§ Sir G. Courthope
Energetic steps are being taken with a view to the utilisation of the suitable standing timber in this country. Broadly, the measures are two-fold: first, stimulation of production by the home timber trade and, secondly, by Departmental production from State and private forests.
