year; the annual production of wheat in this country for the same period; the quantity which qualified for quota payments as millable wheat; and the annual quota payments since the cereal year 1932?
§ Sir R. Dorman-Smith
The particulars required are given in the following statement:
that Indian tennis rackets are being imported into this country at prices ranging from 28s. to 78s. per dozen, and that whereas these rackets are imported free of duty, English-made rackets are subject to a duty of 40 per cent. when exported to India; and whether he could take some steps to remedy this situation by making representations to the Indian authorities on this matter?
§ Mr. Stanley
I am aware of the importation of Indian tennis rackets at low prices and of the duty applying to British-made tennis rackets on importation into India. While this question was kept in mind during the trade negotiations, it was not found possible to provide for an alteration in the tariff position in the United Kingdom.
