§ Mr. Turton
asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the recent observations of the Common Serjeant with regard to the facilities that exist in prison libraries of learning methods of coining; and whether he will take the necessary steps to secure that books containing such information are not made available to prisoners?
§ Sir S. Hoare
In the arrangement's for the control of prison libraries special attention is given to the point mentioned by my hon. Friend and care is taken not to supply prisoners with books which are likely to facilitate or encourage the commission of crime. The Standing Order on the subject mentions as an obvious illustration of the general principle that a book on engraving should not be allowed to a forger.
