§ Sir R. Rankin
asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in his opinion, the large number of casualties to neutral merchant vessels could be reduced if they would agree to adopt some form of 1328W convoy protection through dangerous areas; and whether steps have been taken towards this end?
§ Mr. Churchill
The protection of our convoy system is available on certain conditions to neutrals, and I believe that their losses would be reduced if they accepted this protection more often. The Admiralty have taken, and will continue to take, all possible steps to encourage neutral shipping engaged in trade with, or for, the Allies to participate in British convoys.
