§ Lieut.-Commander Fletcher
asked the Secretary of State for War how many wives of men serving at Bovington camp are living near the camp in disused railway carriages unfit for human habitation; and what is the reason for this?
§ Sir V. Warrender
None of the families living in unsatisfactory conditions is on the married quarters roll. It is understood that 16 families who are not entitled to public quarters under the regulations are living under private arrangements in accommodation which falls below desirable standards.1361W
I would add that a number of new married quarters is being built at Bovington for entitled families, and this will release certain quarters which it may be possible to make available for unentitled families if they desire to rent them.
