asked the Minister of Transport whether he can supply particulars of the actual cost for the years 1926–27 of maintenance of all roads in the areas of the West Riding County Council and the North Riding County Council, respectively?

The actual cost in the year 1926–27 of the maintenance of all roads (main and district) in the area of the West Riding County Council was £1,536,000. The corresponding total for the North Riding was £540,000. The totals include the cost of such improvements as were charged to income account.
