§ Mr. STEPHENasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he proposes to invite the holders of investments in the National Debt to accept a reduction of their claims similar to that which the Government has accepted from the Italian Government; and whether he will introduce legislation, if necessary, to secure such a settlement?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLAs I stated on the 15th December last, His Majesty's Government have no intention of repudiating the contractual obligations of the State to the investors in national securities.
