§ Mr. SMALLWOOD
asked the Pensions Minister if Mrs. Hall, a widow, residing at 12, Queen's Square, Hornsey Road, N., was on 8th October notified that a pension of 3s. 6d. per week had been awarded to her on the loss of her only son, Private Thomas E. Hall, No. 15599, Middlesex Regiment, who died from wounds; and, if so, upon what circumstances the award was based?110W
§ Mr. HODGE
Mrs. Hall was dependent on her son before his enlistment to the extent of 3s. a week, and she was therefore awarded a pension under Article 21 (1) (a) of the Royal Warrant at the minimum rate of 3s. 6d. a week. Further inquiries, however, are being made in the case through the Local War Pensions Committee, and if it be found that she is wholly or partly incapable of self-support through infirmity or age and in pecuniary need, it may be possible to grant her a higher rate of pension under Article 21 (1) (b).
