asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if his attention has been directed to the case of a lad named Walter Harold Franklin, who was sentenced at the Oxford City Police Court on Friday last to a fine of £10 and 6s. 6d. costs or six weeks' imprisonment, on a charge of hindering a tramwayman in the performance of his duty; whether he is aware that the evidence of the tramway conductor and of two police constables differed in material degree; that Franklin's request for an adjournment to enable him to produce witnesses for his defence was refused; and that time was not allowed in which to pay the fine; and whether, having regard to these facts, he will cause inquiry to be made into the case with a view to the remission of the sentence?1377W
