§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR
My Lords, I have to acquaint your Lordships that I have received two further messages of condolence. The first comes in the form of a telegram from the President of the Senate of Iraq, in these terms:
"The Iraqi Senate, in homage to the death of His late Majesty King George V and in sympathy with their allied British people for the grievous loss they have sustained, suspended its discussions at its first Session for three minutes, and directed me to convey to your Lordship and to the honourable members of the House our deep expression of condolence in their sad bereavement.—(Sgd.) Muhammed E1 Sadir, President of the Senate.
The second message comes in the form of a telegram from the Senate of Uruguay:
"To the President of the Chamber of the House of Lords.—The Uruguayan Senate desires to express to the House of Lords their deep sympathy at the death of His Majesty King George V, which plunges into mourning the great British Empire, the traditional friend of Uruguay. With highest consideration.—(Sgd.) Jose Pastor Salvanach, Secretary, Alfredo Navarro, President."
In each case I have ventured to send a suitable reply.
