My Lords, this Bill provides that the residence of a person in any premises shall not be deemed to have been interrupted for the purposes of the Representation of the People Acts, 1918 to 1920, by reason only of the fact that that person has been absent from the premise during part of the qualifying period, not exceeding four months at any one time, in the performance of any duty, arising from or incidental to any office, service or employment held or undertaken by him.
This covers not only persons who are called up in the Defence Force or on other Government duties, but also those engaged on private duties.
