§ Order for Second Reading read.
§ Mr. Simon Hughes (Southwark and Bermondsey)
On a point of order, Mr Deputy Speaker. In the previous Session of Parliament there was a dispute, on more than one occasion, when Government Whips said that, because hon. Members did not rise from their seats to object, it was not clear who was making the objection. Can it be clearly determined so that we know who is objecting?
§ Mr. Mark Hughes (City of Durham)
On a further point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. It may be that my hearing is defective, but I cannot recall where the objection to the Horticultural Produce Bill came from.
Mr. Deputy Speaker
I distinctly heard an objection when the Horticultural Produce Bill was called for a Second Reading. There is no question about that. The occupant of the Chair heard it distinctly.
