§ 26. Mr. M. Clark Hutchison
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will consider introducing legislation to provide for triennial elections for town councils in Scotland.
§ Mr. N. Macpherson
My right hon. Friend proposes to consult the local authority associations concerned on this suggestion.
§ Mr. Clark Hutchison
Will the ratepayers' associations, the churches and other bodies which make up public opinion also be consulted, so that we may have a good idea whether this notion has the general approval of the people of Scotland?
§ Mr. Macpherson
We shall consult the local authority associations in the first place. I shall pass on to my right hon. Friend what my hon. Friend has said.
