asked the Minister of Labour if he will now re-examine the arrangements for calling up men for National Service, so that men, such as trained metallurgists, who will be permanently exempted during war, will be permanently exempted from whole-time National Service in peace-time.

No, Sir. I would refer the hon. Member to my answer to a Question by the hon. Member for Shrewsbury (Mr. Langford-Holt) on 2nd May. It is not proposed to make any further exceptions to the principle that all young men should be called up to perform their National Service.
