§ 29. Admiral Sir Percy Royds
asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many of the ex-American destroyers are being manned by the Royal Canadian Navy; whether these have been transferred to His Majesty's Government in Canada; and, if so, on what terms?
§ Sir V. Warrender
Seven ex-United States destroyers have been transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy, namely, "Annapolis," "Columbia," "Niagara," "Hamilton," "St. Clair," "St. Croix" and "St. Francis." The transfer of these vessels is not regarded as a commercial transaction, but as the arrangement for the disposal of the vessels best fitted to help the common cause. The vessels are regarded as having become the property of 974 His Majesty's Government in Canada from the time they were taken over from the United States.
