§ 48. Mr. Lyons
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, with a view to the conservation of foodstuffs and the release of unessential labour, he will consider the introduction of some restriction upon the number of courses sold or supplied in hotels and catering establishments for meals?
§ Mr. Boothby
My Noble Friend has been giving careful consideration to this question and has recently conferred with representatives of the hotel and restaurant proprietors. It was quite clear at this meeting that the interests concerned held views in harmony with those expressed by my Noble Friend, and the representatives 1268 attending the meeting undertook to submit proposals for consideration by the Ministry of Food. When these proposals have been received, it is hoped to make a statement on the subject.
§ Mr. George Griffiths
Will the Minister see that if the courses are cut down prices will be also cut down?
