§ 52. Mr. MacLaren
asked the Minister of Health whether the Oxford City Council, following the recommendation of its special open spaces committee, have now acquired, and at what price, the following lands: from Christ Church, approximately 20.272 acres adjoining Cutteslowe Park; from Brasenose College, III.221 acres at Marston; from the Head-ington United Charities, approximately 5.2 acres known as the Peat Moors, The Slade; what protests were made in the council against paying the prices at which any of these sites were offered; and whether he will state the net rateable value of each while the committee of the council was negotiating purchase?
§ Mr. Bernays
Loans have been sanctioned for the purchase of 17.844 acres adjoining Cuttleslowe Park for £1,570 and of III.221 acres at Marston for £9,500. I 28 have no information with respect to these loans of the protests referred to in the second part of the question. The lands being agricultural were de-rated. The 5.2 acres known as Peat Moors have not yet been acquired by the council, who have applied for confirmation by my right hon. Friend of a compulsory purchase order in respect of the land.
