§ 19. Mr. Mainwaring
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, having regard to the continuous complaints made against the trading methods adopted by other nations, he will have prepared a statement summarising the various forms of assistance provided by those nations and make it available for Members of this House?
§ Mr. Stanley
My Department possess a considerable amount of information concerning the assistance which is known or alleged to be afforded by other countries to their traders. It is not always easy, however, to discover the various methods of assistance resorted to, and I could not undertake to have a statement of the kind referred to prepared, since the information would not necessarily be complete nor wholly reliable. If the hon. Member will let we know what particular methods of assistance or what countries he has in mind, I will send him such information as is available.
