§ 62. Mr. R. Gibson
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that there is in Scotland a sense of hardship among shareholders of limited companies registered in Scotland when such companies hold their annual general meetings in England; and whether he will introduce legislation requiring such companies to hold their annual general meetings in Scotland?
§ Captain Wallace
I have not so far received any representations to this effect, and the Companies Act, 1929, does not contain any provision as to where the annual general meeting is to be held. If, however, the hon. and learned Member will send me particulars of any case he has in mind, I will look into it.
§ 67. Mr. Johnston
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will give a statement showing the amount of local 1206 rates leviable per head of the population in each of the large towns and cities in Scotland for the year 1937?
The Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Wedderburn)
As the answer involves a table of figures, I will, with the right hon. Member's permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
§ Following is the table:
|Estimated rate of assessment per head of estimated population in the year 1937–38.|
|Motherwell and Wishaw||…||3||6||3|
§ The figures are based on returns received from the rating authorities of the estimated amount of the assessments to be collected in the year ending on 15th May, 1938, and cover all rates, including water rates.
