§ 50. Mr. Mander
asked the Prime Minister whether the Secretary of State for the Colonies was expressing the policy of 413 the Government when he stated in London, on 10th March, that nothing was more important than the fearless expression of public opinion, and that the idea of Government control of the Press was repulsive to British tradition?
§ The Prime Minister
I have seen a newspaper report of the speech to which the hon. Member refers, and I cannot see anything in it inconsistent with the policy of His Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. Mander
Was not that speech one of the most sensible that any Member of the Government has made for a long time?
