§ 61. Mr. J. GRIFFITHS
asked the Minister of Health the number of workmen certified to be disabled by silicosis or anthracosis who are in receipt of relief from the public assistance committees in the counties of Carmarthen, Brecon, Glamorgan, and Monmouth on account of their failure to secure compensation under the existing silicosis schemes?
§ The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Kingsley Wood)
I regret that the records in my Department do not enable this information to be supplied.
§ Mr. GRIFFITHS
Will the right hon. Gentleman make some inquiries, as I understand that complaints are being made by the public assistance committees?
§ Sir K. WOOD
That is hardly within my function. It is a matter for the committees themselves. If I made inquiries into one area, I should have to acquire information from others.
§ Mr. GEORGE GRIFFITHS
Does not the Minister have statistics showing the number of men who are making application for public assistance and who are due for compensation?
