§ 37. Lieut.-Colonel WINDSOR-CLIVE
asked the Minister of Health what steps he proposes to take in order to prevent the pollution of rivers and streams by the effluent from factories which are not in a sewerage system?
§ The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Kingsley Wood)
Under the River Pollution Prevention Act, 1876, the pollution of rivers and streams by effluents from factories is already an offence in respect of which proceedings may be taken by the sanitary authority or the county council.
§ Lieut.-Colonel WINDSOR-CLIVE
If I send my right hon. Friend information showing that the existing legislation is not effective, will he consider it?
§ Sir K. WOOD
If my hon. and gallant Friend will let me have particulars, I will look into the matter.
