§ 61. Sir W. SUGDEN
asked the Minister of Health if, in the case of widows living upon the interest of mortgages completed pre-War at low rates of interest who are at present prohibited from calling such mortgages in, steps will be taken to enable them to receive the present value of money loans or call in such mortgages?
I presume that my hon. Friend is referring to the restrictions on mortgages imposed by the Rent Restriction Acts. The proposal would involve legislation, which I am not prepared at the moment to introduce.
§ Sir W. SUGDEN
If I bring to my right hon. Friend a case where a widow woman was compelled to borrow money 206 at a higher rate in order to educate her children when the man to whom the money had been loaned lent it out again at a higher rate of interest, will he undertake to investigate the same?
