§ 46. Mr. SAKLATVALA
asked the Prime Minister whether he will make it 27 a condition in future for holding the office of Governor or Viceroy of territory in the British Empire not to hold directorates in limited liability companies or corporations that are run for profit?
§ The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)
I understand that the hon. Member's question was prompted by two cases of directorships in a company the primary object of which is social betterment in this country. It is the practice that directorates of ordinary commercial or industrial companies should not be held by Governors, and I think it desirable in the future that there should be complete dissociation even from corporations working primarily for social objects.
