§ 78. Mr. W. COOTE
asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he is aware of the terrorism which prevails in every part of County Monaghan and many districts of Donegal by reason of the lawlessness of Sinn Feiners in terrorising and holding up the railways, boycotting the loyal and Protestant traders of the various towns, setting a watch upon their businesses and preventing people from entering their shops, and that such is the stagnation of trade and shortage of transport that 991 farmers and cottagers are obliged to market their produce at serious loss; and will he see that sufficient forces are sent into these districts in order to break the organised boycott and terrorism prevailing, and liberate the people from an intolerable condition?
§ Sir H. GREENWOOD
I am aware that a great amount of lawlessness still exists in many parts of these two counties, and all possible steps are being taken to deal with this situation and to restore and maintain order.
