§ 48. Sir J. BUTCHER
asked the Prime Minister whether it is possible, without waiting for the passage of the Licensing Bill into law, to fix more convenient hours for the supply of intoxicating liquors in clubs and public-houses; and whether it is possible to arrange that the evening hours for the supply of liquor shall be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., instead of from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., as at present?
§ The PRIME MINISTER
I am afraid that I cannot add anything to the answer which I gave on Thursday last to questions on this subject, until we see more clearly when Parliament will be able to deal with this problem. The Government had confidently hoped to be in a position to introduce and pass through this measure at an earlier date, but the pressure of Parliamentary business has been so great that their anticipations could not be fulfilled.
§ Mr. SPEAKER
There are a hundred questions yet to come. I hope hon. Members will not insist on their right to ask supplementary questions.
