109. Sir J. D. REES
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he can show by statistics of what use the women police have been; and why they are maintained at considerable cost to the taxpayer after the termination of the War?
§ Sir J. BAIRD
I do not think the usefulness of women police can be tested by mere statistics. The whole subject of the employment of women police is being examined by a Committee, and I think any discussion had better be deferred till their Report is issued. It will be in the hands of my right hon. Friend in a few days.
§ Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE
Can the hon. Gentleman say why it is necessary for two women policemen to walk about together?
