asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of 1273 the serious shortage of coal in Ireland resulting in injury and loss to industry, and inconvenience and, in many cases, distress to householders; and what steps he has taken or proposes to take to increase the amount of coal available in Ireland?

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the coal shortage at present existing in Ireland, whereby injury to industries and domestic hardship is threatened; and what steps he proposes to take to increase the amount of coal available for Ireland?

I am aware that certain shortages of coal exist in Ireland, and steps are being taken to increase the supplies from the South Wales area.
§ Sir M. DOCKRELL
Is the hon Gentleman aware that the President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce on Saturday received a report from the Coal Controller that he was placing 40,000 tons per month additional at the service of Ireland, and that it was entirely a question of shipping, and having regard to the position will he ask the Shipping Controller if he can meet the special emergency?
