§ 62. Lieut.-Colonel ARCHER- SHEE
asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that, although Article 497(b) of the Royal Warrant permits a time-expired officer who has been re- employed without retired pay to receive a gratuity of 124 days' pay for the first year of service and sixty-two days' pay for each subsequent year of service, many officers 175 are being paid only the lesser gratuity of thirty-one days' pay for every year of service or part of a year under Article 497(a), as a consequence of the Army Order No. 85 of March last; and whether, in view of the hardship caused, he will consider an amendment to the Army Order quoted so as to give these officers the benefit of the Warrant which was in operation when they rejoined for service?
§ Mr. FORSTER
Army Order 85 of March last deals with the war gratuity for Regular officers on the active list, and I do not understand how it can have the effect stated in the question. If my hon. and gallant Friend will furnish me with a specific case I will have it looked into.
