§ 1. Sir J. D. REES
asked the Secretary of State for India whether the Government of India proposes, in order to abate the gambling in cotton which at present prevails on the Bombay market, to take any steps similar to those taken in England when dealing in cotton futures was pro- 1003 hibited, and when transactions on the London Stock Exchange were restricted to bonâ-fide sales and purchases for actual delivery?
§ Mr. HERBERT FISHER
The hon. Member will, no doubt, have seen a report in the Press that the Government of India have undertaken to issue an Ordinance fixing the price of broach cotton, on the trade agreeing to a price, and on measures being taken to restrict forward business in next season's crop.
