33. Mr. TYSON WILSON
asked the Minister of Munitions how many buildings in the course of erection in London have been closed down at his request or by his instructions; how many workmen have been thrown out of employment owing to these being closed down; and what steps he is taking to provide these men with employment?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY OF MUNITIONS (Dr. Addison)
Up to the present work has been actually stopped on one building in the course of erection in London. As there is a considerable shortage of building labour for urgent Government work in London, there would appear to be no lack of employment for the men affected. Other proposals for stopping building work are under consideration. The trade unions concerned have undertaken to forward lists of men thrown out of employment through the stoppage of building work and special steps will be taken to place these men in touch with other work of national importance.
