§ The PRIME MINISTER
The Government have decided to adopt the recommendations of the Royal Commission as to the diagnosis and treatment of venereal diseases, and arrangements are being made accordingly. It has been decided that 75 per cent. of the cost of these arrangements, which it is hoped may be undertaken with the co-operation of the local authorities, shall be defrayed by means of a Grant from the Exchequer.
I cannot at the moment promise legislation on the other recommendations of the Commissioners, some of which raise very controversial questions, but the whole matter is receiving the earnest attention of my right hon. Friend the President of the Local Government Board.
