§ Sir ARTHUR GRIFFITH - BOSCAWEN
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is the intention of the Government to allow the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to continue to pay to the Church in Wales, under the provisions of the Welsh Disestablishment Bill, that part of their present Grant which is derived from English sources; whether the same permission will be given to the Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty; and if he can state what is the amount of such Grants at the present time?
§ Mr. McKENNA
I propose to make a full statement upon the matters referred to in the question when I introduce the Bill. I think it is desirable to defer communicating information on the subject until then rather than to adopt now the method of Question and Answer, which is unavoidably inadequate. I cannot give at present the figures referred to in the last part of the question.
§ Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN
Is it not a fact that the right hon. Gentleman made certain statements on this subject at the Queen's Hall, and in view of the fact that those statements were very much misunderstood, will he take this opportunity of making clear what he intended to convey?
§ Mr. McKENNA
It is rather difficult for me to judge, but I think what I said at Queen's Hall was perfectly clear. However, if I could not make myself understood then, it would be much more difficult for me to make myself understood now in answer to a question.
