§ Mr. BOWERMAN
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, with reference to the new regulations issued by the London Central Meat and Poultry Markets Association, he is aware that similar rules regarding consignments had been condemned by the Common Council as inimical to the interests of consigners of meat, and were ordered to be withdrawn; and whether he will see that the new rules are brought to the notice of the Common Council?
I am informed by the City Remembrancer that the regulations referred to are practically identical with those framed on the formation of the Trade Association about forty years ago. The Central Markets Committee are now in communication with the association as to certain of the regulations which are in their opinion inimical to the interests of consigners and the conduct of a public market. Unless the regulations are withdrawn or modified, there is no doubt the attention of the Common Council will be drawn to the matter.
