§ Mr. O'DOWD
asked whether the farm in Greyfield, Gurteen, Ballymote, county Sligo, from which Mr. Michael M'Dermott was evicted some twenty years ago, has lately been acquired by the Congested Districts Board, the late occupier having received compensation therefor; and, if so, whether, as this farm was a comparatively small one, unsuitable for sub-division, and that the son of the former evicted tenant had returned from the United States and desired to be reinstated in his father's holding, the Congested Districts Board would favourably consider the question of his reinstatement?
§ Mr. REDMOND BARRY
I understand that the Congested Districts Board purchased Mr. Michael Caffey's interest in the farm in question for the purpose of enlarging the small holdings immediately adjacent thereto, and that they have disposed of all the land in this manner.
§ Mr. O'DOWD
Is it not the fact that the only surviving son of M'Dermott, the evicted tenant, has returned, and that the farm is altogether unsuitable for the enlargement of other small holdings, and will the Congested Districts Board reconsider the matter with a view to having the son of the evicted tenant reinstated, seeing he has ample means to carry on the farm?
