§ MR. WILLIAM ABRAHAM (Cork County, N. E.)
To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the attention of the Estates Commissioners has been directed to the case of Ralph Ladd, an evicted tenant on the estate of Major Eustace, Castletownroche, County Cork; and what is the cause of delay in bringing about his reinstatement, seeing that the farm in question is in the possession of the landlord, who has accepted the price offered by the Commissioners, and that terms of purchase have been agreed upon by the other tenants on the estate.
(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The former holding of Ralph Ladd forms part of the estate of Major Eustace, which has been offered for sale to the Estates Commissioners. The estate has been inspected, but the Commissioners are unable to make a formal offer for it or to take possession until the statutory re- 1246 quirements as to title have been, complied with by the vendor. The Commissioners endeavoured to arrange that Ladd should be given possession of the holding by the owner until the Commissioners should take over possession of the estate, but Ladd was not in a position to give the security required by the owner for the payment of the necessary interest pending the completion of the sale.
