§ MR. SNOWDEN (Blackburn)
I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he, is aware that at various post offices where the postmen's scales of pay are under consideration the pay given to outsiders who act as holiday and sick substitutes has been reduced by as much as 4s. a week, viz., from £1 to 16s.; and whether these substitutes, who are generally more than twenty-two years of age, ought to be paid at the rate laid down for entrants of that age by the Hobhouse Committee.
THE POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. SYDNEY BUXTOX,) Tower Hamlets, Poplar
If the hon. Member will furnish the names of the offices to which he refers I will have inquiry made.
