§ MR. LOUGH
I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether twenty-two cargoes of oats, carding a total quantity of 80,249 tons, were shipped from abroad to South Africa after the 1st of August, 1902; whether the whole quantity of these cargoes was first sold to and then bought back from Meyer, Limited, as explained in the Butler Report; and, if so, what did Meyer's profits amount to on this portion of his transaction.
§ MR. ARNOLD-FORSTER
The hon. Member's Question appears to me to raise precisely one of those issues which ought to be inquired into by the tribunal which is about to be created. Under these circumstances I must ask leave to be dispensed from answering it. It is clear that I cannot possibly have any information with regard to the last paragraph of the hon. Member's Question.
