§ MR. ORR EWING
I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, whether his attention has been called to the fact 910 that in the railway accident at St. Enoch Station, Glasgow, on 27th July, by which fifteen persons were killed and twenty seriously injured, all these casualties took place in two carriages next the engine, only a shred of the framework of the second carriage being left, whereas the rest of the train escaped without damage; and whether he will consider issuing a regulation that the two carriages next the engine must be luggage vans or dummy carriages.
§ MR. GERALD BALFOUR
I have not yet received the Report of the officer appointed to hold an inquiry as to this accident. His attention shall be directed to the terms of my hon. friend's Question.
