§ MR. DAVID THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)
I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he can now say definitely whether the Second Reading of the Licensing Bill will be taken on Tuesday next immediately after the Motion for the adjournment of the House over Easter.
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester. E.
The Bill is down for today, and I have some hope we may be able to reach it. I am very desirous that the Bill should pass the Second Reading, because it is very important that the measure should go upstairs to be discussed by the Grand Committee. It stands second on the Order 564 Paper today, but unfortunately I am not able to control the length of the debates that stand in the way of that happy consummation. I have already stated to the House that on Tuesday, after the Motion for the adjournment over Easter, the Irish Land Bill will be introduced.
