§ MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN (Kilkenny)
I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether it is his intention to 600 reduce the number of bathrooms at present in the House for the convenience of Members; and, if so, whether, before reducing the number of rooms, he will inquire whether, because of the increased number of Members who use those bathrooms during the session, and the difficulty often experienced by Members to get the use of a room, an increased number of bathrooms is required; and whether he will provide more rooms.
§ THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. AKERS DOUGLAS, Kent, St. Augustine's)
The Report of the House of Commons' Accommodation Committee recommended that the existing four bathrooms should be removed in order to provide the corridor to the additional smoking rooms; and, in lieu thereof, it was proposed to place three new bathrooms immediately adjoining the present dressing rooms. If, however, it is possible to increase the number of such rooms, I shall be most happy to consider it.
