§ LORD BALCARRES (Lancashire, Chorley)
I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that certain battalions of the Manchester Volunteer Regiment to be encamped on Salisbury Plain only receive a travelling allowance of 8s. per head, 1494 whereas the journey costs 13s.; and whether, in view of the- fact that this entails an additional cost of £250 to each battalion of 1,000 men, he can make a special grant towards the travelling expenses.
* MR. J. POWELL-WILLIAMS
All expenses incurred by Volunteers travelling over 100 miles to their camps will be specially dealt with under paragraph 586 of the Volunteer Regulations.
