§ MR. DUNCOMBE (Cumberland, Egremont)
I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether England has relinquished all her rights under the Clayton-Bulwer Treaty in respect to, the Nicaragua Canal; and, if so, what compensating advantages, if any, have been secured in exchange.
§ * MR. BRODRICK

There has been no question of compensation, the advantages in the former Convention relative to the neutrality of the canal, and the protection of commerce under conditions of entire equality, being fully maintained.
