§ COMMANDER BETHELL (York, E.R., Holderness)
May I ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether there is any Minister present who can give the House some information as to the behaviour of Her Majesty's ship Resolution in the heavy gale in the Bay of Biscay, as reported in the newspapers within the 271 last few days? Members of the House of Commons and the public are naturally somewhat anxious about the behaviour of this vessel.
§ MR. W. E. GLADSTONE
I am not aware that such information can be given in the absence of my right hon. Friend and my hon. Friend the Secretary to the Admiralty and the Civil Lord, which, I presume, must be owing to some unforeseen and special cause.
MR. GIBSON BOWLES
Is it a fact that the Secretary to the Admiralty and the Civil Lord have resigned m consequence of the speech of the Chancellor of the Exchequer last week?
