§ MR. HAYDEN (Roscommon, S.)
I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Bill introduced into the House of Lords by the Government for the appointment of official liquidators in bankruptcy proceedings in Ireland will have the effect, if passed, of creating a fresh charge on the Consolidated Fund which must be discharged by Ireland in the event of the Government of Ireland Bill becoming law; and, if so, whether the Government will proceed further with a measure calculated to have such an effect?
*MR. J. MORLEY
The Bill does not provide for the appointment of official liquidators in bankruptcy proceedings. It provides that the official 558 assignees of the Court of Bankruptcy shall be official liquidators in the winding-up of companies under supervision of the High Court. It will not have the effect of creating a fresh (or any) charge on the Consolidated Fund.
