§ MR. ASQUITH(for Mr. PRESTON BRUCE) (Fifeshire, W.)
asked the Postmaster General, Whether the final award has been made in the arbitration case between the Post Office and the North British Railway Company; and, whether arrangements have been made, or will be made, immediately, for the re-instatement of the recently discontinued sorting van between Burnt island and Dundee?
§ THE POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. RAIKES) (Cambridge University)
The final award has been made in the recent arbitration between the Post Office and the North British Railway Company; but it does not provide for any special service between Burntisland and Dundee. I shall be willing to consider any fresh proposal which the Railway Company may put before me in this respect. But the very high value which the Company have attached to services performed for the Post Office precludes me from giving any present assurance that the service in question will be restored.
