§ MR. JAMES ROWLANDS (Finsbury, E.)
asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Whether the Government propose to introduce any measure for the relief of London water consumers from the charges laid upon them under the existing system?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Lord RANDOLPH CHURCHILL) (Paddington, S.)
This Question ought rather to have been addressed to my right hon. Friend the President of the Local Government Board; but as he is unavoidably absent, all I can say is, that the matter has not yet come directly under the notice of Her Majesty's Government. It is, undoubtedly, a matter of great importance; and I do not think it would be possible for the Government to refrain for any great length of time from considering it in a practical manner.
